About Idaho Japanese Association
The Idaho Japanese Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to introducing and sharing Japanese culture throughout the Boise, ID community. Serving the Treasure Valley region, the organization facilitates cultural education and cross-cultural understanding by organizing engaging events and activities that celebrate Japanese heritage and traditions. The IJA hosts a variety of programming throughout the year, including their flagship event Idaho Japan Day, along with supplemental gatherings such as Japanese New Year Party, IJA Movie Night, and Potluck Picnic. These events provide residents of Boise and surrounding areas with authentic opportunities to experience Japanese culture firsthand. Beyond cultural programming, the Idaho Japanese Association serves as a vital information hub for Japanese nationals in Idaho, sharing local resources, advice, and official announcements from the Consulate office of Japan in Portland. The organization maintains an active mailing list with approximately 700 members and welcomes individuals of all nationalities who share an interest in Japanese culture and community connection. With membership completely free and open to everyone, the IJA removes barriers to participation and cultural engagement.
