About Japan-America Society of Greater Austin

The Japan-America Society of Greater Austin (JASGA) offers comprehensive Japanese language instruction and cultural programming designed to build meaningful connections between communities in Austin, TX and Japan. As a member of the National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS), JASGA provides structured language courses through a proven 20-step fluency program available both in-person and online, serving learners of all ages from children to adults. The organization delivers expert-led instruction through experienced instructors who create flexible, self-paced learning environments tailored to individual goals. Beyond language education, JASGA curates diverse cultural workshops and events including traditional Japanese arts such as Shodo (calligraphy), Chanoyu (tea ceremony), and kimono appreciation. The society also hosts regular community engagement activities and cultural celebrations throughout the year, providing Austin residents with authentic opportunities to deepen their understanding of Japanese traditions and foster cross-cultural friendships. With registration for 2026 Japanese language courses beginning in December, JASGA continues its mission to make Japanese language and culture accessible to the broader Austin community while strengthening bilateral understanding between the United States and Japan through educational excellence and cultural immersion.
