Japanese American Citizens League New York Chapter

The Japanese American Citizens League New York Chapter is a dedicated civil rights organization serving the New York, NY community and beyond. As part of the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States, founded in 1929, the New York Chapter works to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all individuals victimized by injustice and bigotry. The organization monitors and responds proactively to issues that enhance or threaten the civil and human rights of all Americans, with particular focus on the Asian Pacific American community. The JACL implements comprehensive strategies to effect positive social change, addressing contemporary challenges including national security concerns and civil liberties protections. The New York Chapter also promotes cultural, educational, and social values while preserving the heritage and legacy of the Japanese American community.
